GamesByDorks is thrilled to announce the first ever
Game Challenge!
A weekend 100% dedicated to gaming!
Whether it be board gaming, card gaming, tabletop battle, or pen and paper gaming - we have created a 48-hour event dedicated for you to simply PLAY! Doors will open at 5pm on Friday, January 20 and will not close until 5pm on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the Howard Johnson hotel located in downtown Fargo, ND.
Pre-registration is now closed - but information is available at the bottom of this page for you to still register and make a payment via paypal!
The primary idea of this event it to allow you to simply play games - we are happy to facilitate scheduled game times (simply request by emailing

) and are open to other tournament ideas - but we want to help you find opportunities to play new games you have always wanted to try. Signup sheets will be provided at the event registration table to help facilitate opportunities for you to try new games or to run a game or two of one you are dying to play!
The gaming room will be open for the full 48 hours of the event - allowing you to game when you like, take a nap when you need, leave to grab food and drinks, etc.
Tournaments:
We will be hosting three tournament events that will take place over the weekend.
Warhammer Fantasy
The members of the Border Princes campaign at Paradox Comics and Cards will be running a Storm of Magic mini-tournament. Magic, monsters, and lots of high-fantasy mayhem will be on the menu. Come by and watch. Advanced players will be on hand to give advice about starting a new army and how you can get involved in playing this exciting tabletop miniature game.
This event is broken up into two parts:
A Learn to Play event is still being coordinated. Check back for more information soon!
(Learn to Play event will not allow for sufficient time to participate in the tournament but will help give you an understanding of the universe of Warhammer Fantasy, a beginning understanding of how to play and a chance to ask questions of seasoned veterans of play.)
Tournament play will run from 10:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday, January 21st.
Warhammer 40k
Grand Cities Games will be sponsoring a Warhammer 40k Apocalypse Tournament. "The Good, the Bad, and the Dead" will be a 2000 point per player, 1 strategic asset per player (may have more if it is a bonus asset) and teams will be a Good vs. Bad (Pick a side!)
Play will start at 10am on Saturday the 20th. For a full listing of the rules - click here.

Magic the Gathering
Our friends at Paradox Comics-N-Cards will be sponsoring a Magic the Gathering Cube Draft Tournament. Play will begin at 10am with a Cube Draft Tournament following standard draft rules for this style of play. It will be followed by a Mega Attack Left/Defend Right Match. More detailed information will be coming soon!

Cost for the event will be $20 at the door for the full weekend.
**Our goal of this event is to keep the costs of the weekend as low as possible. The Howard Johnson gave us a great discount on the room we will be using and for that we are very grateful! Should we bring in revenue over the costs to hold the event, those funds will be used to purchase board games for children at our local children's hospitals!
